4 REASONS SOME MEN WON'T GROW A BEARD
Over the last year that I've been writing for 'The Beard Struggle' I have covered a wide range of various bearding advice, tips and pointers. Today I wanted to touch on something slightly different, and go where most beard blogs have never gone before and discuss a few reasons some males choose to never tread down the bearded route in their lifetime. So, allow me to introduce you to '4 reasons some men won't grow a beard'...
Firstly, I'm not here to bash anyone around the head who chooses not to grow a beard (Well, Okay maybe just a little!) I understand that a furry face isn't something every Man or Woman desires in their lives. Although, at some point the majority of men at some point in their lives consider giving a beard a go as they ponder what it would be like to do so. The most common reason I here more often than any of the others would have to be...
'MY PARTNER WON'T ALLOW ME TO GROW A BEARD!'
So, your partner doesn't share your vision on you wanting to grow out your very own beard? I guess any loved one are more than entitled to hold an opinion on your latest lifestyle choice. But allow them to control the overall outcome to me just feels a tad too (dare I say it?) controlling? Now I can only speak for myself here and my own set of circumstances, but when I first decided to grow out some form of facial hair it was simply to satisfy my own 'bearding itch'. I had always wanted to grow out maybe a goatee style bit of facial gruff as a kid and knew that one day I'd have to give it a try otherwise I'd never be able to satisfy my desire to at the very least say I gave it a shot. My wife wasn't at all supportive to start, neither was my Mum for that matter, but most surprisingly was my eldest Brother having a real hard time with it. Which if I am totally honest with you I friggin' loved! So if anything all these people that were openly hating on my new found facial fluff only spurred me on to keep things growing along nicely! Almost three years on and I can safely say people now appreciate the beard and have adapted to me being with it. My only words of advice would be not to let someone control your decisions. Be man enough to make up your own mind on such subjects and run with em.
'I CAN'T GROW MY BEARD, AS WORK WON'T ALLOW ME TO!'
I understand in certain professions facial hair is not permitted for various reasons. But times are slowly changing and the workplace has began to ease off the pressure a little when it comes to beards. Around any form of food preparation beard nets are a requirement. If you work outside of the few career paths that disapprove of facial hair you are good to go. So don't let what your work colleagues may say turn you away from proudly sporting that facial growth you desire.
'I DON'T THINK A BEARD WILL SUIT ME THOUGH?'
The simple response to this question is, 'how on earth will you ever know if you never try?' Growing a beard isn't like trying on a chosen sweater of new fancy hat, growing out your beard doesn't happen overnight. It takes heaps of time, time that you will have to adjust to your new look each day as it progresses. Plenty of time to choose what sort of beard you'd like. Just give it a go already! As you may just regret it if you don't my friend.
'MY FACIAL HAIR GROWS THROUGH GINGER, THERE'S NO WAY I'M HAVING A GINGER BEARD!'
Firstly.. HOW VERY DARE YOU!!?! (So rude!) You'll find many men who sport some form of facial hair often have signs of the ginger gene hidden away in their beards. I discussed the finer details on a previous beard blog post as to why some men's beards grow out ginger despite them having a completely different shade of hair on their head. But I like to think my ginger beard represents me as an individual. After all, a cool patch or two of any funky colour will help your beard and you stand out. Nobody wants to blend in with the crowd around here these days do they, am I right?
Well, that wraps up another fun filled beard blog for today. As always let us know your thoughts in the comments section provided below!
