BEARD BLING ACCESSORIES ARE IN THE MAKING, BUT DID WE REALLY ASK FOR THEM?

Good day my fellow beardy Brothers, and welcome to yet another 'TBS' beard blog! I was doing my usual Google search rounds to see what's been happening in the world of 'all things beard', and noticed a new product has hit the market...beard jewelry. Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. Jewelry...for a gentlemans beard.

Now, At first I was taken back by the idea of there being items of bling specifically designed to go on ones beard. Questions enter my mind such as 'How does this stay attached?' and 'Why on earth would we want to wear such items within our beards?' and finally 'Did we really request such things to be made?'

This new beard jewelry range is the brain child of a bearded gentleman who first started up this idea as a Kickstarter project. Through the power of social media it seems everyone is highly intrigued by the creations on display. Whilst intrigued might be great shortterm, longterm this might just fizzle out as another fad. Now, I'm not here to bash the idea down and into the ground, but there are a few solid reasons as to why I feel beard jewelry will not stick around for the long haul. Firstly, when you first notice tiny crested skull emblem jewel in the promotional clips it does not look all that flattering. If anything they look more like a little left over crumb from your lunch. Secondly, how will these continue to hold onto your beard whilst you're wearing them? it seems they simply 'screw' into your beard. My wife had something similar on our wedding day in her hair, and they held up really well, so well in fact that our wedding night was not full of hot romance, but instead I had to help unscrew these damned things from her head! I even joked it was almost as if I was rebuilding Frankenstein's monsters wife! (Yeah, my wife didn't overly appreciate the connection either!) but will these hold on to a beard in the same way? I'm not sure. And lastly, is there a gap in the market where bearded gentlemen were desperately searching for beard bling bling in the first place? I'm not so sure that there was if I'm totally honest.

Without putting across a one sided debate here I have to defend the creator when I say beard jewelry isn't a new overnight trend. In fact the Vikings were rocking the shit out of beard bling way back in 1066. Often made from crafted silver and gold, hoop like beard charms were cleverly created as a way to display a Warrior's strength, health, wealth and power. So, maybe we're just taking a huge leap back in time and experiencing something from mankind's history over again?

I'd love to hear what you all think about beard jewelry. Is it something that you would wear in your own beard? Or is this just another gimmick item that is set to fall at the sidelines? I must say I am rather interested in giving this beard jewelry a test run and then reporting back with a fair review in a future beard blog post. So, if you're the creator of the new beard jewelry then please get in touch, as we'd love to hear from you!

That wraps things up for today's beard blog post. As always let us have your comments and questions in the box provided below.

And until next time, Beard on Brothers, Beard on...
